What size material handler do I need?

To determine this, ask yourself, how heavy is the material you are lifting and how far do you need to reach? These two answers will narrow the selection. Hiab offers a wide selection of material handler sizes.

What boom style should I choose?

If you want to stow the boom over the cargo area, an S-boom will be the one for you. If you're wanting to keep the boom out of the cargo area, a Z-boom will be the best choice.

What Material Handling Grapple do I need?

The material you are handling will determine the type of grapple needed. For example, timber requires a bypass grapple, waste and storm debris may need an orange peel grapple. There are many types of grapples to choose from. Working with an industry expert can help narrow the selection.

A forestry crane, sometimes referred to as a timber crane, material handler, or log loader, are normally mounted on a straight truck or a trailer and are designed to load and unload timber.

Operator Safety and Comfort

Hiab Loaders top seat area has been designed with operator safety in mind. The operator area is surrounded with safety rails, and the premium top seat is comfortable, ergonomic, and easy to access. The seat has wide range of adjustments, allowing it to be adjusted to the ideal working position. All standard operations are at arm's reach from the top seat, offering easy access to the stabilizer controls, truck start/stop, e-stop, and work light controls.

Estop System

An optional E-stop kit improves safety. One hit on the button stops all operations – just what you need in an emergency, such as hydraulic system failure. This option also includes operator indication for transport status of boom and stabilizers and operational status of capacity.

Load Holding Valves

For enhanced safety, Hiab Loaders can be equipped with Load Holding Valves (LHV) for boom systems and/or slewing. LHV's will keep the load safe and stationary in the event of damage to a hydraulic hose or connector.

Precision Hydraulic System

Hiab Loaders have a Precision Hydraulic System with a fixed pump, 2 circuit system. Its high pressure filtration and other operational characteristics, such as their control valve/spool design, create a smooth operation with high flow capabilities.

Double rack'n'pinion slewing system

The column design offers use of high-torque rack and pinion slewing mechanism for more precise and efficient loader control. In addition, the double racks offer higher slewing torque capabilities for more efficient loading and better performance in uneven terrain. The slewing mechanism is lubricated constantly in an oil bath, increasing reliability and extending the loader’s working life.
